Willow House, a cultural complex run by Yuhan (000100), has won the Presidential Prize, the top honor at the Korea Space Culture Awards.
Yuhan said on the 28th that Willow House, created to mark the company's 100th anniversary, received the Presidential Prize at the 2026 Korea Space Culture Awards on the 27th. The awards are hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Institute of Architects.
Willow House drew high marks for preserving a historic architectural asset while opening it to the public. The judging panel said Yuhan shared its architectural heritage with the local community and set a new standard for public spaces created by private companies.
In June this year, Yuhan reopened its former headquarters in Daebang-dong, Seoul, built in 1962, as the Willow House cultural complex. The company preserved the red-brick exterior and the building's historical character while removing the outer wall so that residents could enjoy exhibitions, culture and rest as part of daily life.
Willow House was built on the business philosophy of founder Dr. Yu Il-han, who held that profits earned from a business should be returned to the society that helped it grow. By opening the former headquarters as a cultural space for the public, Yuhan put that principle into practice.
The Yuhan Archive inside Willow House presents Dr. Yu's life and entrepreneurial spirit along with the company's history and vision for the future. Willow Ground and the garden Willow Park were designed as places for residents to enjoy culture, rest and meet one another.
A Yuhan official said the company will continue to share its founding spirit, history and future vision with the public through Willow House and develop it into a hub for mutual growth with the local community.
Now in its 21st year, the Korea Space Culture Awards have been presented since 2006 to recognize spaces that improve the cultural quality of life for the public.
