Centrifuge has named Johnny Reinsch as its new Head of Transfer Agency. The company is betting that the most unglamorous job in fund management is about to become one of the most important.
The appointment, which took effect October 26, 2026, is meant to expand Centrifuge’s Digital Transfer Agency capabilities. That is the part of the business that keeps track of who owns what inside a tokenized fund.
Who Centrifuge hired, and why it matters
Reinsch, who posts on X as @itsjawknee___, comes to the role from inside the tokenization world. He previously served as CEO of Onchain Estate. He was also executive director of the Tokenized Asset Coalition.
His mandate centers on Centrifuge’s Digital Transfer Agency. According to the company, the product pulls four functions into a single programmable system: ownership, servicing, transfer controls, and distribution.
The company frames the goal as letting fund shares move through digital capital markets at “internet speed.”
A string of recent milestones
The Reinsch hire does not arrive in a vacuum. Centrifuge secured an SEC-registered transfer agent license in 2026. That registration matters because it gives the company a regulated basis to perform transfer agent duties, rather than simply supplying technology to a third party that does.
Centrifuge has also introduced tokenized equity offerings for clients. Caesar AI is among the early adopters.
On the technical side, the company has shifted toward an EVM-native architecture to support its operations. EVM refers to the Ethereum Virtual Machine, the computing environment used by Ethereum and many compatible blockchains.
Then there is the institutional roster. Centrifuge works with Janus Henderson and Apollo on tokenized products.
Put together, the sequence reads like a deliberate build. First came the regulatory license. Then came the product expansion into equities. Now comes a dedicated executive to run the transfer agency function that ties those pieces together.
Background: the quiet race to own fund infrastructure
Centrifuge describes itself as a provider of onchain infrastructure for tokenized real-world assets and fund management. Real-world assets, often shortened to RWAs, are traditional financial instruments such as funds, credit, or equities that are represented as tokens on a blockchain.
What this means for tokenization and its players
For asset managers weighing tokenization, the Reinsch appointment signals that Centrifuge intends to offer a more complete package. A firm considering an onchain fund could, in principle, get regulated transfer agent services and the underlying technology from one provider.
A registered transfer agent license plus partnerships with firms like Janus Henderson and Apollo gives Centrifuge credibility that pure technology providers may struggle to match.
The things to track from here are fairly concrete. Watch whether more issuers follow Caesar AI into tokenized equity offerings on Centrifuge. Watch whether the Janus Henderson and Apollo relationships expand into additional products. And watch how quickly the Digital Transfer Agency moves from a stated capability to something institutions are visibly running live funds through.
Hiring a former Tokenized Asset Coalition executive suggests Centrifuge wants someone who can translate between crypto-native builders and traditional fund operators.
