On October 9, Trump named Katie Zacharia press secretary, as the successor to Karoline Leavitt, according to the Associated Press. Less than a week later, she was on her way out.
AP reports her short tenure was defined by a rocky first briefing, questions about her professional background and a lack of polish in fielding questions from reporters. She said on Fox News that she wasn’t asked about passing the bar before getting the job, after claims that she was a lawyer.
Trump told reporters that he thought she had been treated unfairly by the press, and that he had asked her if she even needed the job.
Then the White House communications director weighed in.

That’s where the job stands. The person who was supposed to be the voice of the administration lasted less than a week, and the person in charge of White House messaging is publicly shopping for her replacement with a post about a rapper.
The press secretary is the person who stands at the podium and answers for the president on everything from the war in Iran to the economy. It’s one of the most visible jobs in the country.
And right now it’s being filled with a joke on social media.
Cheung didn’t say whether it’s serious. Nobody at the White House has explained who is actually doing the job in the meantime.
