KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry revoked 28,401 business licences nationwide over the past three years as part of efforts to curb illegal business activities by foreigners.
Its minister Nga Kor Ming said the ministry conducted 10,248 integrated enforcement operations nationwide to address the issue and protect the interests of local business owners.
"The operations resulted in 100,366 enforcement actions, comprising 65,023 compounds, 28,401 business licence revocations and 6,942 seizure and demolition actions involving business premises," he said in his winding-up speech on the 2027 Supply Bill in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Nga said the ministry took the matter seriously and had implemented strict enforcement measures to ensure compliance with business licensing requirements.
He also warned that local authorities would not hesitate to revoke the business licences of local licence holders who violated licensing conditions.
He said the Madani government remained committed to protecting local business owners and ensuring that business opportunities were accessible to Malaysians.
Meanwhile, Nga said 8,960 enforcement operations against littering were carried out in seven states from January to September under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007.
During the nine-month period, the ministry issued 17,145 notices for littering offences.
"Approval to prosecute was obtained for 2,883 cases, of which 820 had been concluded in court. A total of RM467,140 in fines was collected during the period," he said.
Nga added that community service orders totalling 3,638 hours were implemented during the period.
