MMP deputy leader Joshua Okayo said on Monday, 26 October, that the party has been conducting grassroots outreach through ward-level town hall meetings in the counties, as well as engagements with student leaders whose concerns will feed into the party's manifesto.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Okayo, who will not be seeking any elective post himself, said he is dedicating his efforts to the campaign of the party leader Macharia Njeru, who is contesting the presidency.

"As Okayo, I will not be on the ballot. He is running for the president of Kenya and is aware of the weight of that undertaking and he's ready to carry it through to the ballot. I am committing my time to support Mr. Macharia Njeru's campaigns to ensure he gets elected in the coming elections," he said.
Who is Njeru Macharia?
Njeru is a senior advocate of Kenya with more than three decades of experience in public sector reform and institutional strengthening.
He served as the inaugural chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority from 2012 to 2018, before going on to serve as vice-chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission from 2019 to 2024, a position to which he was elected as the Law Society of Kenya representative.
On party nominations, Okayo pledged that candidates will be selected through transparent internal primaries, with those who emerge successfully running on the Mwongozo Mpya ticket.
What to know about Mwongozo Mpya
The party describes itself as operating from a people-first, centre-left philosophy anchored in progressive social democratic values including equity, accountability, participatory governance and sustainable development.
Its policy priorities span the economy, education, healthcare, security, good governance, justice, environmental protection, and agriculture.
While asserting its independence, Mwongozo Mpya has left the door open for coalition arrangements with parties and individuals who share its ideological outlook and values.
"We are an independent party but we will be open to work together with people/parties we are aligned with in terms of ideological clarity and character," Okayo told TUKO.
The party received full registration from the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties on October 13, 2026, following the submission of its ideological proposals in November 2025.
