Danish authorities will cull 27,000 turkeys after highly pathogenic bird flu was detected in a flock on the island of Lolland, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration said in a statement.
Earlier, the same strain of bird flu was detected on the Danish island of Zealand. As a result, 40,000 turkeys were culled there on October 24,.
As experts from the aforementioned administration had previously explained, such infections are common in the fall, when migratory birds migrate over Denmark.
In recent weeks, highly pathogenic bird flu has been detected also in several wild birds.
