DETROIT — Goaltender Michal Postava earned his first NHL playing time last week, now he's about to get his first start.
Coach Todd McLellan told reporters after the morning skate Monday, Oct. 26, that Postava will make first career start that evening against the Edmonton Oilers.
It'll be quite a baptism for Postava, 24, who'll be facing the Western Conference's best team, with offensive stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the way.
Postava stopped seven of eight shots he faced Thursday, Oct. 22, replacing John Gibson to begin the third period in Vancouver. Gibson had an irritated eye. Postava held the fort, helping the Wings to a 5-2 victory.
Postava was 4-0-0 in Grand Rapids this season, with a 1.25 goals-against average, and .954 save percentage.
