Axel Arigato‘s new Flair Runner is getting an early release.
Indeed, the new unisex sneaker silhouette is part of the company’s new spring 2027 collection and is set to arrive on Wednesday.
According to the Swedish company, the new shoe is “built to feel relaxed on the foot, with less foam inside, a lower sole, and a wider forefoot.” It also draws inspiration from two of the company’s existing sneakers. The panel comes from the Genesis Runner, passed through the asymmetric spirit of the Daze Runner, so the paneling sweeps across the upper and tilts.
The sculpted midsole is polyurethane, chosen because it resists creasing and keeps the lines as drawn, and it is made on tooling designed for this shoe alone. The tread is a playful take on retro runner soles, and in the forefoot it carries an abstract letter “A.”
Plus, the monochrome Bee Bird, the emblem Axel Arigato brought back in spring 2026 and adapted for this shoe, is debossed on the tongue tab and the heel, worked into the outsole, and appears on the underside of the custom sockliner.
Codesigned with Areté, a design studio in Amsterdam, the new Flair Runner will be available in 11 colorways, seven for men and four for women, spanning soft neutrals, blues, greens, and burgundy, alongside darker browns, blacks, and greys, most in mesh and leather and three of the men’s in suede.
“Our newly established, dynamic and more organic design language, successfully seen on our low-profile runner Daze, was the starting point for Flair,” Jens Werner, creative director of Axel Arigato, said in a statement. “It appears different and unexpected from every angle. Flair is our new highlight creation for spring/summer 2027, and reflects the season’s theme of ‘Back to Back,’ exploring the contrasts between today’s Swedish minimalism and the country’s folk art and traditions.”
Photographed by Werner, the shoe’s campaign is shot inside a minimal studio with people, leaning, sprawling or crouching, with the aim to build a small world around the shoe. The brand noted that the spot “takes its cue from the spring/summer 2027 theme, and the push and pull that comes with it: connection, tension, balance.” Bespoke furniture was also made to match the shoe: a speaker, a chair, and a sofa in wood, with their curves echoing its shape.
To celebrate the launch, Sotce, a New York-based artist, writer, and internet creator, takes over Axel Arigato’s New York store for one evening, turning it into her own gallery, with a short film, photographic works, and a handwritten statement that put her spin on the light green Flair on Oct. 29.
The night before, Axel Arigato and Areté will come together at Young Space in London for a conversation on creativity and design, followed by music and dance. Around the evening, Axel Arigato’s close friends from New York and Paris join the London group for launch week, wearing Flair and shooting the city on cameras and phones for their own take on the shoe.
The Flair Runner, which retails between $345 and $360, will be available starting Oct. 28 at Axel Arigato stores as well as its website. Five further men’s colorways will follow in March.
