SwissBorg has destroyed another 300,000 BORG tokens. The burn, the platform’s third-quarter installment for 2026, was carried out on October 27 after a vote by members of its Guardians program.
What happened with the Q3 burn
The decision did not come from a boardroom. SwissBorg’s Guardians, a group of Premium users who lock up their BORG, voted on what to do with tokens the platform had bought back.
Those buyback tokens usually go one of two ways. They are either burned permanently or handed out as rewards to community members.
For Q3, the Guardians picked the furnace. A total of 300,000 BORG were removed from circulation for good.
Burns in the first two quarters of 2026 added up to approximately 500,000 BORG combined.
The bigger supply picture
The quarterly burns are part of a long-running program. SwissBorg launched its burn strategy in April 2021, and the cumulative total has now climbed past 14.2 million BORG.
That works out to about 1.42% of BORG’s maximum supply of 1 billion tokens.
As of late October 2026, roughly 563 million BORG were unlocked. About 415 million BORG were locked by members for governance purposes.
Locked tokens are not freely trading. They are tied up so their holders can take part in decisions like the one that just sent 300,000 BORG into oblivion.
How the machine works
SwissBorg describes itself as a licensed European wealth management platform. Its token model connects what happens on the platform to what happens to BORG supply.
The mechanism runs roughly like this. Trading activity on the platform generates revenue, part of that revenue funds token buybacks, and the community then votes on whether those bought-back tokens get burned or distributed.
The governance layer is what separates this from a standard corporate buyback. Guardians have to lock their tokens to earn a vote, which means the people deciding the fate of the supply have skin in the game.
What this means for BORG holders
At about 1.42% of max supply after more than five years, the burn program is steady rather than aggressive.
The locked supply figure may be the more telling metric. With about 415 million BORG committed to governance, a large portion of holders appear to be thinking long term rather than flipping tokens.
The risk sits on the revenue side. Because buybacks are funded by platform trading, a slowdown in user activity would likely mean smaller buybacks, and smaller buybacks mean smaller burns.
The Guardians also retain the option to send buyback tokens toward community rewards instead of burning them.
Burns in 2026 have totaled approximately 800,000 BORG across three quarters, combining the roughly 500,000 from the first half with the latest 300,000.
