Oct. 26—NORTH PORTLAND, Ore. — Stewartville native and former University of Michigan men's basketball player Will Tschetter has a chance to prove himself with an NBA G League organization.
Tschetter — the 2021 Post Bulletin All-Area Boys Basketball Player of the Year who won the 2026 NCAA men's basketball national championship with the Wolverines — made the Rip City Remix training camp roster, the team announced on social media Monday. Rip City is the G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Tschetter is no stranger to the organization as he participated in the Trail Blazers' minicamp during the 2026 NBA Summer League, but he did not appear in any games, and he was not listed on the team's summer league roster.
After winning the national championship, Tschetter signed with the Warwick Senators of the NBL1 West in Australia. During the 2026 season, he averaged more than 28 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.73 assists per game and shot better than 51% from the field through 11 games.
Tschetter recorded a total of 649 points, 279 rebounds, 77 assists, 17 steals and 14 blocks in four seasons and 135 games played with the Wolverines.
As a high school senior, Tschetter finished as runner-up for the 2021 Minnesota Mr. Basketball award behind Chet Holmgren, current Oklahoma City Thunder power forward and Minnehaha Academy grad. Stewartville never made the state tournament with Tschetter on its side and instead the Tigers were MSHSL Section 1, Class 2A runners-up to Caledonia in both 2020 and 2021. Still, Tschetter graduated from Stewartville as the boys basketball all-time leading scorer with 2,467 career points.
Tschetter was listed on Rip City's roster on the organization's website as of Monday, Oct. 26.
The 2026-27 NBA G League season begins Friday, Nov. 6, with opening night rosters set Nov. 5.
