The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Bayelsa State Mega Regional Axis, held its third mega musical concert recently to discover young gospel talents and encourage them to use their gifts to promote Christian worship.
The concert, which attracted worshippers from Bayelsa State and neighbouring communities, featured praise and worship sessions, choir performances, gospel music, prophetic ministrations and exhortations.
The programme also provided an opportunity for young and aspiring gospel musicians to showcase their abilities, build confidence and develop their musical skills.
Speaking at the event, the Mega Regional Overseer of MFM in Bayelsa State, Pastor Emmanuel Akinola, said the initiative was inspired by the commitment of the church’s General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, Dr Elizabeth Olukoya, to youth development and helping young people fulfil their potential.
He said the church was committed to following their example by creating opportunities for young people to discover and develop their God-given talents.
Akinola explained that the concert was not merely a musical gathering but also an avenue to win souls for Christ, strengthen believers and encourage people facing personal challenges.
He said gospel music remained an important instrument for spiritual upliftment and emotional encouragement, urging Nigerians to embrace praise and worship as part of their Christian lives.
The concert also featured testimonies from participants who described the programme as an opportunity for spiritual growth and personal development.
One of the soloists, Tammy, expressed appreciation to the General Overseer for providing young people with opportunities to minister through music.
She described the annual concert as one of the programmes she eagerly anticipated.
A member of the regional choir, Kelvin Whyte, said the preparations for the event had strengthened his prayer life and commitment to the choir.
“Every rehearsal felt like a prayer meeting. By the time we got on stage, it was no longer a performance but worship,” he said.
A first-time performer, Miracle, said the experience helped her overcome stage fright.
She encouraged other young people to overcome their fears and use their talents in the service of God.
Some worshippers also said the concert left them spiritually refreshed, citing the variety of songs performed in different Nigerian languages as one of its highlights.
A participant, Shadrack, who attended the programme with his family, said the multilingual worship sessions promoted unity among the congregation.
He added that he left the venue feeling refreshed and more hopeful about the challenges he was facing.
Similarly, a parent, Opemipo, whose children participated in the programme, commended the church for providing young people with a platform to develop their talents and strengthen their faith.
“Programmes like this keep our children away from negative influences and give them a sense of purpose,” she said.
The organisers said the concert formed part of the ministry’s efforts to promote spiritual growth, encourage young musicians and provide opportunities for members of different age groups to participate actively in worship.
