The Indianapolis Colts will be about 330 pounds lighter on their flight to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday after sending All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks for draft compensation.
Multiple reports say the Colts are sending Nelson to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
The deal comes just days before the Jaguars face their AFC South foe in Week 8, after the team's London stint and bye week.
TRADE IDEA: Could Jaguars reunite Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner at NFL trade deadline?
The Jaguars are 4-2 and lead the AFC South, while the Colts are tied for second with the Houston Texans at 2-5. The Colts are expected to keep selling on the trade market after firing longtime general manager Chris Ballard a week ago.
Assistant GM Ed Dodds has taken the reins in the team's personnel department.
Nelson, 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds, was drafted by Indianapolis with the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He's since gone to eight Pro Bowls. Nelson has been named first-team All-Pro three times (2018-20) and second-team All-Pro three times (2021, 2024, 2025). He made the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2018.
For Jacksonville, the deal marks another team selling players ahead of their matchup. The last time was in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ahead of the game, Philly sent guard/center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens. Before that, Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson surprised the league by retiring.
