The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over recurring incidents of building collapse in the national capital.
“Every month there is a tragedy in Delhi. Every month the Chief Minister orders a new audit of all buildings, then every month huge bribes are being extracted in the name of audits and inspections,” AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
Mr. Bharadwaj alleged that the fire and revenue departments have also started “collecting regular bribes” from hotels and restaurants.
Mr. Bharadwaj shared on X photographs of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspecting the trial run of ‘Namo Yamuna Cruise Safari’ and said the Chief Minister did not have time to meet the relatives of those who died in the latest building collapse incident in Harsh Vihar.
“Today, she is laughing and giggling while a ‘boat’ is being called a ‘cruise’. Why don’t you call it Titanic?<NO>Reminds me of a photoshoot by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a fake classroom after 25 years of BJP rule in Gujarat” he said.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “Before making such statements, Saurabh Bharadwaj should have remembered that the concerned Gokalpuri Assembly constituency [under which Harsh Vihar falls] and municipal ward have been represented by AAP MLAs and councillors for several years. He should first ask them what efforts they made to prevent illegal construction in their own area.”
