The accident also claimed the life of his wife, Lucy "Lulu" Muteke, and four other passengers. The couple were laid to rest side by side on 8 October at Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare.
Sonja is the mother of Chivayo's two children: son John Chenjera, born in January 2018, and daughter Atarah Minana, born in March 2019.
She attended his funeral dressed entirely in black, a presence that drew considerable attention from both mourners and social media users.
