Natuna, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The Natuna district government in Indonesia’s Riau Islands Province said Selat Lampa Port has received a port code, a key step toward opening the facility to international export and import trade.
Natuna District Head Cen Sui Lan said the code would help open international trade through the port in Pulau Tiga Subdistrict.
“Selat Lampa Port has received its port code. I received a call yesterday from the Transportation Ministry’s Sea Transportation Directorate confirming it had been issued,” she said here Sunday.
Efforts to establish Selat Lampa as an export-import gateway have been underway for several years.
In July 2025, Indonesia’s Transportation Ministry approved the port as a location for export and import activities.
The Natuna administration also proposed upgrading port facilities, with more than Rp20 billion (about US$1.1 million) in central government funding.
The upgrades are currently under construction.
The Natuna administration has also established a Certificate of Origin Issuing Agency (IPSKA).
The agency is authorized by the trade minister to issue Certificates of Origin (CoOs) for Indonesian goods destined for export.
It was inaugurated online by Indonesia’s trade minister on June 25, 2026, alongside similar agencies nationwide.
Cen said the port code, together with improved infrastructure and export administration services, could boost leading local commodities and strengthen trade links in Indonesia’s border region.
“Having the port code means Selat Lampa Port can operate as an export-import gateway at any time,” she said.
