KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) maintained their strong start in the Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) with a commanding 3-0 victory over Thailand's Port FC at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium today.
The Southern Tigers strengthened their position in the continental competition after securing a second consecutive victory following an earlier 2-0 win over South Korea's Pohang Steelers.
After a goalless first half, Jonathan Silva broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, firing a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner from an Arif Aiman Hanapi assist.
JDT doubled their lead nine minutes later when Bergson da Silva headed home to put the hosts in control.
Juan Martinez sealed the win in the 86th minute, finishing a counter-attack into the bottom-left corner off a pass from Nahuel Leiva.
The result leaves Port winless after three matches, while JDT have seven points from two wins and a draw.
JDT next play South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Nov 3 as they aim to extend their winning streak.
