Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) plans to use transaction data from the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as one reference in assessing creditworthiness, or credit scoring, for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“This is at least an achievement where we give financial access to merchants at the bottom, small merchants too, whose data can later become a kind of credit scoring. In the future it will be like that,” BI Governor Destry Damayanti said at the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (TIIF) 2026 here on Monday.
Based on BI data through the third quarter of 2026, QRIS had 70.6 million users and 49.4 million merchants. Damayanti said 97 percent of them were MSME players.
QRIS transactions also continue to grow. In the third quarter of 2026, QRIS transaction volume increased by 75.8 percent year-on-year (yoy).
According to her, using QRIS transaction data can support wider financial access for small businesses, in line with BI’s efforts to promote more inclusive economic growth.

“We have done many things, at least because we want sustainable economic growth. That means the growth must be inclusive,” she said.
Besides QRIS, Damayanti highlighted the role of BI-FAST as a payment infrastructure that allows transactions around the clock.
“Not many other central banks or countries have fast payment (BI-FAST) yet. We already have fast payment, where the economic savings are also extraordinary,” she said.
BI-FAST recorded a transaction volume of 1.631 billion in the third quarter of 2026, growing 31.78 percent year-on-year.
Its transaction value reached Rp4,049 trillion, up 33.91 percent from the same period a year earlier.
