A widely watched episode of Podcast and Chill featuring North West businessman Benjamin "Benjy" Maponya has been pulled from YouTube, with the removal drawing attention online as his legal dispute with mining businessman Solomon "MySol" Soka Madibela continues.
The episode, which had accumulated more than 1.9 million views, was no longer accessible on the platform as of Tuesday, 27 October 2026. No public explanation has been offered by host MacG, whose full name is Macgyver Mukwevho, or by the Podcast and Chill Network.
The dispute between Maponya and Madibela
Maponya appeared on the podcast on 8 October 2026, where he spoke about his falling out with Madibela over the N4 Cluster opencast mining project at Buffels West. He alleged that he had been pushed out of the venture, lost access to income, and suffered significant financial consequences, including losing his Hartbeespoort home.
Madibela moved swiftly in response, securing an urgent interim interdict from the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg. The court order restricted the publication and distribution of specific statements linking him to alleged criminal conduct, and directed Maponya to take down related social media posts.
The episode aired despite the interdict being in place. Madibela subsequently launched contempt of court proceedings against both MacG and Maponya for alleged non-compliance with the order.
Court finds Maponya in contempt
Madibela also appeared on Podcast and Chill on 15 October to give his version of events. He disputed Maponya's characterisation of their business arrangement and challenged claims about their partnership and any outstanding payments owed to Maponya.
The Johannesburg High Court found Maponya in contempt of court on 22 October. He responded by filing an application for leave to appeal the ruling on 23 October.
The episode's disappearance from YouTube has since ignited broader debate on social media around freedom of expression, the enforceability of court orders, and media coverage of business disputes. The underlying matter between Maponya and Madibela remains unresolved.
