Indigenous history will continue to be commemorated in names proposed for new roads in the Peel Business Park.
Development WA, the developer of Peel Business Park in Stake Hill, had sought the Shire of Murray’s support for the proposed names in the latest stage of the park’s development.
Eight new names are needed.
The shire has a register of pre-approved names for new roads.
The council voted unanimously at its October 22 meeting to add Development WA’s proposed names to the register and prioritise them for the Peel Business Park.
The names still need the approval of Landgate’s Geographic Names Committee before they can be used.
The proposed road names commemorate Indigenous community members with strong connections to the area, continuing a theme from previous stages of the development.

They include Nyatch, Tundop, Diddong, Yeegoon, Munji, Doolga, and Doilbank.
Nyatch is named after a Bindjareb man who fought alongside Indigenous leader Galyute in the resistance to colonial settlement of the Murray district. Diddong is an ancestor of the Abraham family who survived the Pinjarra massacre and lived to more than 108 years old.
The other names are from ancestors of the Walley family and consultation participants.
