KUALA TERENGGANU: An administrative assistant pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to 15 charges of using forged quotation documents involving more than RM14,000 for the supply of food and beverages, meeting equipment and building maintenance services between 2020 and 2023.
Mohamad Afif Md Noor, 37, who is attached to the Kemaman branch of the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA), entered the plea after all 15 charges were read to him before Judge Azman Mustapha.
According to the charges, the accused allegedly used forged quotation documents as genuine in applications for the supply of lunch and refreshments, meeting equipment and maintenance services at the RISDA Kemaman office.
The offences were allegedly committed at the RISDA Kemaman District office between December 2020 and January 2023.
All the charges were framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 465 of the same Code by imprisonment for up to two years, a fine or both upon conviction.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Amalina Najwa Mohd Ali appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer Marlisa Marzuki represented the accused.
Earlier, Nur Amalina Najwa proposed bail of RM15,000, with additional conditions requiring the accused to surrender his passport to the court, report to the MACC office monthly and refrain from interfering with prosecution witnesses.
However, Marlisa appealed for a lower bail amount, saying her client had hypertension and supported his wife and father-in-law, who has dementia and requires full-time care.
Azman allowed bail of RM6,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to surrender his passport to the court, report to the MACC office monthly and refrain from interfering with prosecution witnesses.
The court fixed Nov 24 for the submission of documents.
