Former Nakisunga Sub-County LC III Chairperson Mubarak Sekikubo has been charged with corruption and criminal conspiracy over allegations that he participated in a scheme to obtain Shs38 million from a job applicant by promising to secure him a government position.
Sekikubo was arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on Monday by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
He was remanded until November 4, 2026, as he faces charges arising from the alleged scheme involving a doctor seeking government employment.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the alleged offences occurred between January and June 2025 in Mukono Town, where Sekikubo reportedly conspired with two other suspects to defraud George William Mukisa, a job applicant.
The unit said the suspects allegedly made false representations to Mukisa, claiming they could secure him a government position as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.
Prosecution alleges that Sekikubo acted alongside Ronald Saaku Mugerwa, a Probation and Welfare Officer for Lugazi Municipality, and Saadi Wataba, who are both still at large.
The three allegedly sought to obtain Shs38 million from Mukisa after claiming they could influence the recruitment process and secure his appointment to the position.
“Investigations further revealed that Mubarak and his alleged accomplices claimed that the money would be used to facilitate members of the Mukono District Service Commission to improperly influence the Commission’s decision-making,” the State House Anti-Corruption Unit said.
The unit said the alleged arrangement was intended to secure Mukisa the Medical Officer position in exchange for an undue advantage.
The Mukono District Service Commission is responsible for recruitment and other human resource decisions within the district's local government structures.
Mugerwa and Wataba remain at large, while Sekikubo has been remanded as the case proceeds before the Anti-Corruption Court.
Sekikubo is expected to return to court on November 4, 2026. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
