Guwahati, Oct 28: Guwahati’s air links with Southeast Asia received a boost today with the launch of IndiGo’s direct service to Bangkok, providing travellers from the Northeast another overseas connection from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.
The airline will operate the service twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, under its regular schedule effective October 31, the airport authorities said.
The connection is expected to facilitate travel between the Northeast and Thailand, with opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural exchanges.
According to the schedule released by the airport, Guwahati-Bangkok flight 6E 1085 departs at 6.15 pm and reaches Bangkok at 10.45 pm local time. The return service, flight 6E 1086, leaves Bangkok at 8.50 am and arrives in Guwahati at 10.25 am. All timings are local.
A special inaugural schedule was announced for today, ahead of the commencement of regular operations later this week.
With the Bangkok connection, the airport authorities said LGBIA is now linked to five international and 24 domestic destinations, strengthening Guwahati’s role as the principal aviation gateway to the Northeast.
The airport, managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, also said its bamboo-inspired Terminal 2 has been named in the Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.
