ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China reaffirmed their resolve to deepen their strategic partnership on Monday, placing media cooperation, public diplomacy and closer coordination at the centre of talks during Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning’s visit to Islamabad.
Meeting Mao called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said Pakistan remained firmly committed to strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China. The visit comes as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations, with engagements aimed at expanding cooperation and bringing their peoples closer together.
Mao delivered greetings from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Dar reciprocated with warm regards and best wishes for his counterpart.
Welcoming her participation in the Pakistan-China Spokespersons’ Dialogue, Dar highlighted the importance of regular consultations across all levels of the relationship. He described the dialogue as a key platform for improving media cooperation, strengthening strategic communication and advancing public diplomacy.
Such exchanges, he said, could deepen mutual understanding and build stronger connections between the people of Pakistan and China.
Mao reaffirmed China’s commitment to its close partnership with Pakistan and appreciated Islamabad’s constructive role in supporting regional peace, stability and dialogue.
In a separate engagement, Mao held the third round of the Pakistan-China Spokespersons’ Dialogue with Foreign Office Spokesperson Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan.
The two sides pledged to strengthen coordination between their spokespersons’ offices, with particular attention to media engagement, strategic communication and public diplomacy. The discussions reinforced their shared commitment to the longstanding strategic partnership.
The visit’s wider programme also linked diplomatic engagement with new avenues for information sharing. Pre-visit reports said Mao would lead a high-level delegation and attend a ceremony at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre, where the planned programme included the inauguration of the China-Pakistan Information Corridor.
The initiative was envisaged as a platform to expand cooperation in media, strategic communication and public diplomacy, complementing the spokespersons’ consultations and Mao’s meeting with Dar.
