KUALA LUMPUR: LPI Capital Bhd's net profit fell 15.7 per cent to RM96.82 million in the third quarter (Q3) ended Sept 30, 2026, from RM114.83 million a year earlier, due to lower profit from its investment holding segment.
Revenue rose 1.1 per cent to RM555.52 million from RM549.31 million in the same quarter last year, driven by higher insurance revenue from its general insurance segment.
For the first nine months ended Sept 30, 2026, the company's net profit declined 11.1 per cent to RM263.21 million from RM295.97 million in the same period last year.
Revenue increased to RM1.64 billion from RM1.57 billion, mainly driven by its general insurance segment.
Looking ahead, LPI Capital, which provides general insurance products and services, said Malaysia's economic growth outlook remained broadly resilient, supported by technology-related exports and investment, as well as robust domestic demand.
However, it cautioned that the conflict in West Asia, energy price volatility, trade uncertainty and supply chain disruptions remained significant external risks.
"Against this volatile business environment outlook, the LPI Group will continue to prioritise profitable growth over premium growth. The key objective will be sustainable underwriting profitability, rather than just increasing market share.
"The group will strengthen technical pricing and risk segmentation, and review loss ratios, expense ratios and combined ratios by product, customer, channel, geographical region and agent to reinforce underwriting discipline and support profitability," it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
LPI Capital also said adopting artificial intelligence technology would enable the group to enhance risk monitoring, improve pricing accuracy and strengthen underwriting decisions.
