Akash Network votes to migrate from Cosmos to Solana for cost efficiency

CryptoBriefing

Akash Network voters have overwhelmingly approved a proposal to migrate the blockchain from Cosmos to Solana, according to a recent announcement. The decision is seen as a strategic move to reduce operational costs and expand user reach. Although the proposal received strong support, it only authorizes the migration direction and a potential 1:1 SPL-token launch after necessary audits. The existing network on the Cosmos-based akashnet-2 will continue to operate until additional approvals and technical checks are in place.

Key Takeaways

• Akash Network’s vote suggests a strong endorsement for transitioning its blockchain infrastructure to Solana, a move expected to reduce costs and expand user access.
• The proposal indicates potential changes in Akash’s settlement and token infrastructure, but the full migration will depend on further approvals.
• Current Cosmos-based operations will remain functional until all migration processes and technical evaluations are concluded.

What to Watch

The approval may indicate increased confidence in Solana’s ecosystem, potentially impacting Solana’s market perception. Observers will be watching for further developments, such as the completion of audits and additional migration approvals, which could influence Solana’s price predictions. Key actors like Solana Labs and the Solana Foundation may play crucial roles in facilitating this transition, and any updates from these entities could affect market sentiment.
