The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced November 1, 2026, as the resumption date for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic session, while returning undergraduates are expected back on campus two weeks later.
Under the revised schedule, fresh students will begin online registration on Monday, November 2, ahead of a five-day orientation programme scheduled to run until Friday, November 6.
The university had initially fixed October 31 for the arrival of newly admitted students.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, disclosed the timetable in a statement, explaining that the activities had been arranged to prepare new students for the academic, social and administrative demands of university life.
According to the statement, the orientation programme will familiarise the new entrants with the University’s academic culture, traditions, rules and regulations, while providing essential information to help them settle into their new environment.
The programme is also expected to introduce the students to the responsibilities and opportunities associated with studying at the institution, widely known as Great Ife, while equipping them with the guidance required to navigate their academic journey successfully.
As part of the preparatory activities, the University has scheduled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for fresh students from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13.

The University Management has urged both fresh and returning students to adhere strictly to the approved timetable, while appealing to parents, guardians and other stakeholders to take note of the dates and provide the necessary support to ensure a smooth transition into the new session.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to maintaining an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research and character development.
He also wished students a safe return to campus and a productive academic session as the institution continues to uphold its tradition of academic excellence.
