Antonio Guterres, the United Nations secretary-general, says the power struggle in Sudan, sustained by support from foreign actors, has turned into a war against civilians and must be stopped.
In a post on X on Tuesday, October 27, Guterres said civilians in Sudan must be protected and humanitarian aid must reach those in need without any obstacles.
He emphasized that Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity must be preserved.
The UN secretary-general added that Sudan’s future must be determined by its people through an inclusive political process.
