Fake news already manipulating information says Mattarella

(ANSA) - ROME, 26 OTT - Fake news is already manipulating information today, President Sergio Mattarella said Monday. "It is already evident today that the manipulation of information—including through the dissemination of fake news, leveraging the potential offered by the internet—is capable of influencing public opinion and steering attitudes and choices, and not just in the commercial sphere—a phenomenon that is, in fact, widely encountered in our daily lives," said Mattarella, while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 5th edition of the Festival of Regions and Autonomous Provinces in Florence.
