Last week, Chloe and Chioma reunited in the New York studio for a special taping of The Run-Through focused on their respective November issues. They started off with Vogue US’s Jenna Ortega cover, shot by Szilveszter Makó. As Chloe put it, Makó has been photographing “every cover under the sun, but we felt he was really the right person for Jenna.”
They also pored over British Vogue’s cover story on pop star Lola Young, who has been quite candid about her struggles with the spotlight. “She’s a raw nerve in the best way,” Chioma said.
Some of Chloe’s favorite stories from her issue included Dodie Kazanjian’s profile of a 99-year-old Alex Katz, whom she visited at home in Maine, as well as Dodie’s Up Front about living in fancy pajamas following the loss of her husband earlier this year. Other highlights included a fashion story inspired by birdwatching, coupled with a humorous essay by Heidi Julavits; and a feature on Francesco Risso’s Bureau of Imagination in Milan.
From Chioma’s issue, both editors were excited to talk about Christopher Kane’s Mulberry debut with his big sister—and longtime collaborator—Tammy Kane. Vogue’s longstanding relationship with Kane was crucial to the success of the story. “It was a real coup because he secretly showed us the collection before the show,” Chioma explained, “which very few designers will let you do, understandably, because it’s a debut and there’s a lot of attention and pressure.” They also spoke about model Neelam Gill honoring her late mother ahead of Diwali.
