After 19 years of service with the Bermuda Police Service, Constable Sandip Roy has retired.
A police spokesperson said, “After 19 years of dedicated service, Constable Sandip Roy, better known simply as “Roy”, has officially retired from the Bermuda Police Service [BPS].
“For Sandip, becoming a police officer was about giving back to an island that had welcomed him, provided opportunities and, most importantly, given him a family and a place to call home.
“Throughout his career, Sandip served at Hamilton, Somerset and Airport Police Stations, with 14 years spent in the Police Support Unit [PSU].
“Sandip believes that treating everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances, is fundamental to effective policing.
“An example of his beliefs in practice is Roy’s Fine Food, a popular community eatery, operated by Sandip and his wife Tracy.”
Reflecting on his BPS career, he shared: “I came to Bermuda looking for a life. Bermuda gave me a home, a family, and eventually the privilege of serving its people. I hope, in return, I was able to give a little something back.”
A police spokesperson added, “Congratulations on your retirement, Roy! Thank you for your service!”
