Shares of Ather Energy jumped around 14% to Rs 1,575 per share on Monday after the electric two-wheeler maker reported a consolidated net profit in Q2 FY27, compared with a loss in the year-ago period. The company also announced plans to expand its annual production capacity by 2.25 lakh units across its Hosur and AURIC facilities to meet growing demand.
Ather Energy reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 1.26 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, against a loss of Rs 154 crore in Q2 FY26. Its consolidated total income rose 62% year-on-year to Rs 1,527 crore, while vehicle volumes increased 42% to 93,211 units, according to the company’s press release.
The company posted an EBITDA of Rs 74.2 crore during the quarter, marking its second consecutive EBITDA-positive quarter. Its EBITDA margin improved to 4.9% from negative 9.6% a year earlier, supported by higher volumes, product mix and pricing decisions.
Ather said customer enquiries rose 109% year-on-year to around 10 lakh in Q2 FY27, while pre-orders more than doubled to 1.8 lakh units. Its Hosur facility operated at 98% capacity utilisation during peak production in the quarter.
To cater to the growing demand, Ather plans to increase annual production capacity at Hosur from 4.2 lakh units to 4.95 lakh units by December 2026. Its upcoming AURIC facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is scheduled to begin commercial production in phases from December 2026, with an initial annual capacity of 5 lakh units. The company plans to expand this to 6.5 lakh units by Q2 FY28.
The capacity expansion will require an investment of approximately Rs 122 crore, taking Ather’s combined installed annual production capacity to around 11.4 lakh units by Q2 FY28.
During the quarter, Ather also launched Konarc, its first scooter built on the new EL platform. Unveiled at its Community Day event in August, the scooter focuses on everyday comfort and convenience. It features a metal body, an adjustable backrest, keyless access and a new Bedrock battery backed by a 10-year warranty.
Brokerages have also remained bullish on Ather. In August, CLSA retained its ‘Outperform’ rating on the company with a target price of Rs 1,600, citing strong volume growth, robust bookings, upcoming capacity expansion and the launch of its EL platform.
