Three persons, including two teenagers, were paraded naked in a south Kolkata neighbourhood by the family members of a girl.
The girl’s parents and uncle were arrested by the Kolkata Police on Monday (October 26, 2026) over the incident. The video of the abuse has since gone viral on social media.
The incident took place on Sunday night (October 25) when one of the boys, accompanied by his friend, had gone to meet a 13-year-old girl. The girl’s family members, who were upset at this, caught hold of the two teenagers and physically assaulted them. When the father of one of the boys rushed to the place, he too was assaulted by the girl’s family.
The police said the family members threatened to kill the three men with a gun if they did not walk naked on the street. “They were paraded naked for about 50 metres in the lane in front of their house,” a statement from the Kolkata Police said on Monday (October 26).
The police said they are in the process of recovering CCTV footage from the area and are also looking for the other accused.
“The main accused and the girl’s father, Pradip Sarkar; her maternal uncle, Rahul Barman, alias Bhulu; and mother Rinku Sarkar have been arrested. Searches are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused,” the police added.
A case has been registered at the Sarsuna Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
After the assault, local residents came to the rescue of the three men and provided them with clothes and shelter.
