Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has cemented his place in NFL history, becoming the only player in the modern era to hold the all-time passing touchdown record for two different franchises.
The 38-year-old achieved the remarkable milestone during the Rams’ 35-21 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 on Sunday, throwing his 155th touchdown pass as a member of Los Angeles.

The score pushed him past Roman Gabriel for the franchise record, adding another significant achievement to Stafford’s already impressive career.

Stafford makes history with Rams and Lions
Stafford’s latest accomplishment is particularly impressive considering his success with two separate organizations. Before joining the Rams in 2021, he spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions from 2009 to 2020, establishing himself as one of the franchise’s greatest quarterbacks.
He remains Detroit’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 282, meaning he now holds the record for two franchises that have played significant roles in his career.
Stafford, the 2025 NFL MVP and 2011 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, was quick to acknowledge the contributions of those around him following Sunday’s victory.
“Catching touchdowns and throwing touchdowns isn’t a one-man job,” Stafford said. “My name’s in there, but so many coaches, players, teammates just had so much to do with that, and I appreciate all those guys.”
The veteran quarterback also joked that the achievement “just means I’m getting old,” offering a lighthearted response to a milestone that highlights his longevity and sustained excellence.

Rams quarterback continues to deliver at 38

Despite being in the later stages of his career, Stafford continues to produce at a high level. Through seven games in the 2026 season, he has thrown for 1,989 yards and 14 touchdowns while completing 67.3 percent of his passes.
His consistency remains a major asset for a Rams team looking to build momentum and climb the standings. Sunday’s win over Las Vegas provided another reminder that Stafford can still perform among the league’s elite quarterbacks.
However, the Rams have work to do after opening the season with a 3-4 record. They will look to build on their victory when they face the winless Los Angeles Chargers, who sit at 0-6, in Week 8 on Sunday.
Stafford’s historic achievement reinforces his legacy, but his immediate focus will be helping Los Angeles turn its season around and return to playoff contention.
