About La Bougie:
La Bougie is an Irish perfumery and candle house, founded in 2012 by Lucy Hagerty, an English perfumer who works from a boutique perfumery in West Cork. Its candles, diffusers and eau de parfum are built from scratch, never from commercial fragrance bases, and are stocked by retailers including Brown Thomas, Avoca and Kilkenny Design. La Bougie has a devoted following in Ireland and a growing presence in the UK, where it opened its Lymington boutique in 2023.
Mission Fig:
First created by founder Lucy Hagerty in 2016, Mission Fig is the defining fragrance within the La Bougie brand. Over the past decade, it has earned a devoted following; the scent many customers return to time and time again.
The fragrance began with an old, gnarled fig tree in the garden of Lucy's family home in Tuscany. For generations, the tree has stood at the centre of family life, the backdrop to long lunches, afternoons spent reading in the shade, and summers marked by the scent of ripening figs warming in the sun.
It takes 8 weeks to create the perfume. Blended, chilled and filtered twice in La Bougie's own boutique perfumery produces a sublime Eau de Parfum with 8 ml of precious fragrance blended with pure grain alcohol in every bottle. Mission Fig has notes of parched earth, fig leaves and blond wood.
Since its launch, Mission Fig has grown into a familiar presence in homes, spas and some of the world’s most exclusive hotels and estates across its native Ireland. Mission Fig arrived in the UK following the opening of La Bougie’s boutique in Lymington and UK online store and has fast become its best-selling scent.
"Mission Fig began with a tree that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember," says Lucy Hagerty, founder of La Bougie. "It stands in the garden of our family home in Tuscany and has always been a gathering place. We are incredibly proud of this scent and what it means to us and to the La Bougie community. Mission Fig has a quiet magic to it that has to be experienced to be understood.
