Toronto Police are looking for several men in a home renovation scam in Mimico in which the suspects allegedly posed as an officer and a judge.
Cops said the investigation began on Oct. 5 after the victim, who lives in a home in Lakeshore Blvd. W. and Royal York Rd. area, contacted police after hiring contractors to perform work on her home.
“The victim was misled about the extent of repairs which were required which resulted in higher costs than quoted and significant financial loss,” police said in a news release.

Police said the victim was later contacted by a man claiming to be a judge named Stephen Firestone, who told her that the “investigation and court proceedings required her to pay a large amount of money and that she would be reimbursed through the court proceedings.”
Cops said the woman “purchased and delivered several bank drafts to the suspect(s) totalling over $200,000.”
Police said there’s no detective named Philip Spring, nor is there a judge named Stephen Firestone.
