As we continue to take a look back at the Indianapolis Colts' Week 7 performance against the Minnesota Vikings, let's highlight some noteworthy snap count figures.
For the most part, when it comes to playing time, there aren't many huge surprises, but each week, particularly in the first half of the season, there are a few things we can glean.
With help from PFF, here are a few quick notes from the Colts' snap count totals from Week 7.
Heavy rotation at linebacker continues
Even though the Colts were dealing with injuries at linebacker, with both CJ Allen and Bryce Boettcher inactive, the heavy rotation continued. Akeem Davis-Gaither played 57 of the 59 defensive snaps as the MIKE linebacker, while Jaylon Carlies (23 snaps), Germaine Pratt (20), and Austin Ajiake (18) all saw their share of snaps at the WILL position.
Plan at cornerback without Sauce Gardner
With Sauce Gardner out, Justin Walley moved from the nickel to outside cornerback and performed quite well at that spot. Cam Taylor-Britt then shouldered the slot snaps with Charvarius Ward outside.
However, Walley and Taylor-Britt both exited the game in the second half, which forced Kenneth Harris -- who was elevated from the practice squad -- to line up outside, with DB Kapen Gushiken seeing more slot snaps.
What about the wide receiver rotation?
Josh Downs played 52 of the 61 offensive snaps, with Laquon Treadwell WR2 in terms of snaps, playing 45 over the course of the game. Keenan Allen played 30 snaps, and Deion Burks played seven. Ashton Dulin's role on offense was very minimal. He played just one snap.
