The Strait Area Trails Association will receive funding through the Trail Maintenance Fund for new culvert installation, ensuring the trail remains in excellent condition and resilient to weather conditions. The official amount was not released publicly.
“This investment will help ensure residents can continue to access the beautiful and scenic trails of the Strait Area Trails,” said Inverness MLA Kyle MacQuarrie, in a press release.
“Whether you’re using the trails for mountain biking, hiking, or another outdoor activity, this funding will help keep the trail network safe, accessible, and well maintained for everyone. The Houston government is proud to support local organizations like the Strait Trails Association who work hard to take care of our community.”
The funding comes through the Trail Maintenance Fund, which is a program designed to support community trail groups by funding regular trail maintenance activities, ensuring trails remain safe and accessible for all users.
In addition to the support, the program also allocates emergency funds specifically designated for significant repairs that may arise from unforeseen events, such as fires or severe weather conditions.
To date, the provincial government has invested more than $525,000 in recreational trail funding.
