MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Mindanao may experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, Oct. 27, due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said.
In its 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms were expected over Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall at times, Pagasa warned.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda-Carpio said the ITCZ was bringing less rainfall than in previous days, although scattered showers could still occur in parts of western Mindanao.
“Although the ITCZ’s axis is moving southward and the rainfall it is expected to bring is decreasing compared with previous days, scattered rain showers are still possible,” she said in Filipino.

Pagasa also advised caution for those traveling by sea in extreme Northern Luzon, where moderate to strong northeasterly winds may bring moderate to rough seas, with waves reaching 1.2 to 2.8 meters. Across the rest of the country, coastal waters are forecast to be slight to moderate, with waves of 0.6 to 2.1 meters. /cb
