Nick Foles Calls Out Culture Issues and 'Dysfunction' in Philadelphia

Former NFL quarterback Nick Foles, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl LII title as MVP, is fed up with the current state of the franchise.

During the most recent episode of his podcast, "The SZN," Foles called out what he views as serious culture problems and "dysfunction" within the Philadelphia organization.

Foles specifically noted the departure of long-time offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland as a turning point for the franchise.

“There is dysfunction in Philly. It was little things for me. It wasn’t the execution that got me. It was culture things," Foles said. "The number one thing isn’t scheme, a fancy coordinator, it’s culture. In Philadelphia, for the better of the past couple decades, they have had really good culture. Something is changing. When they got rid of Jeff Stoutland, that really pissed me off. I knew something bad was gonna happen. He is a great coach. For him not to get the respect that he deserves, that frustrates me.

"When guys are getting hit and offensive lineman are near them, is someone going to pick up the running back? He just got hit in the backfield. That culture with Jeff, that would never fly. When we got hit, we were picked up right away by the offensive line."

After beginning the 2026 NFL season 2-0, the Eagles have dropped each of their last five games. The team is dealing with several major injury issues — most notably the loss of starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the remainder of the year.

The Eagles will look to get their 2026 season back on track in a Week 8 matchup against the division-rival Washington Commanders on Sunday night.
