Adidas took another shot at LeBron James on Sunday, with comedian Hasan Minhaj mocking Nike’s stock price in a new Anthony Edwards commercial.
The ad marks Minhaj’s debut as the official insider for “Minnatlantasota,” Adidas’ sketch-comedy series featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves star. The latest jab in the ongoing exchange with James drew plenty of reactions from NBA fans.
NBA Fans React to Adidas’ Latest Anthony Edwards Commercial
The commercial features the AE 3 in its Solar Red colorway. Minhaj answered the former Los Angeles Lakers star: “A certain someone in Philadelphia says he doesn’t watch the three stripes. Let me say this: your current company’s stock price says otherwise. I know you’re watching.”
Adidas Basketball posted the commercial Sunday afternoon with a message of its own: “You heard it straight from the source. Believe That.”
Minhaj was responding to James’ comments about the first “Minnatlantasota” episode, which Adidas posted Sept. 17, a day before the AE 3 dropped. In that commercial, Edwards joked about James’ hair, age, and knees.
Edwards’ Adidas ads have previously taken aim at NBA stars. The four-time MVP addressed the latest one when his “Mind the Game” co-host, Steve Nash, asked him about it during the podcast’s Oct. 13 episode.
“First of all, I didn’t watch the spot, because I don’t watch anything from the stripes. Nothing. Love Ant to death, but I don’t watch [expletive] from the stripes, I just don’t. So I don’t even know what he actually said,” James said.
Later in the exchange, he added, “He just read off the teleprompter.”
The new commercial quickly drew attention online. Sports culture account Modern Notoriety wrote, “Shots fired at LeBron James and Drake.”
Others praised the people behind Edwards’ commercials.
“Ant has the best marketing team,” the Sleeper Timberwolves account remarked.
YouTuber HTB was similarly blown away: “ADIDAS gets it, man. They haven’t missed on a single one of these.”
One fan praised Adidas Basketball’s recent advertising, writing, “Every single piece of media that Adidas Hoops puts out is pure gold. Captivating. Delightful.”
Another wanted to see a response from James’ longtime sponsor. “Dawg, Nike gotta swing back one of these days,” the fan tweeted.
Another fan was equally impressed: “Ant and Adidas declaring war on all other basketball brands has been amazing. Elite creative team.”
James signed with Nike in May 2003 after turning down Adidas as a high school senior. The two sides agreed to a lifetime partnership in December 2015, reportedly worth more than $1 billion.

Minhaj’s joke about Nike’s stock price comes after a prolonged decline from the company’s 2021 highs.
Minhaj is scheduled to appear in additional “Minnatlantasota” episodes on Edwards’ and Adidas Basketball’s Instagram accounts throughout the 2026-27 season.
Nike, meanwhile, unveiled James’ 24th signature shoe earlier this month. The LeBron 24 is scheduled for a global release on Nov. 17.
