The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, has arrested two persons over the alleged operation of an unlicensed private security outfit, Double Razzor.
The suspects were identified as Abraham Job and Adebowale Adeniyi.
Their arrest followed an investigation into the outfit’s licensing status and authorisation to provide bouncer and other private security services.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, in Ilorin.
According to the statement, preliminary findings raised concerns about the outfit’s compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements governing private guard companies in Nigeria.
“The suspects were arrested following an investigation into the outfit’s activities, particularly its licensing status and authorisation to provide bouncer and other private security services.
“The alleged offences under investigation include operating a private security outfit without the requisite licence and providing regulated security services without the necessary statutory authorisation,” the statement read.
The command explained that the NSCDC was responsible for regulating and licensing private guard companies in the country, stressing that operators must obtain the necessary approvals before engaging in regulated security activities.
The State Commandant, Abbas Mohammed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing compliance with the regulations and curbing unauthorised private security operations across Kwara State.
He urged event organisers, corporate organisations and members of the public to engage only duly licensed security providers to ensure compliance with the law and promote public safety.
The statement added that the command would continue efforts to sanitise the private security sector, protect lives and property, and promote accountability in security operations across the state.
In June, the NSCDC arrested one man, Akinola Tosin, for defrauding a Point-of-Sale (PoS) operator using a fake bank transfer alert while also impersonating a member of the Nigerian Army.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael, said the suspect allegedly obtained N40,600 from the operator after presenting a fake debit alert as proof of payment.
