Peace Ambassador Abubakarr S. Turay, popularly known as Shady Baby, has appealed to President Julius Maada Bio and the First Family to consider granting clemency to Zainab Sheriff, who is serving a sentence at the Female Correctional Centre.
Shady Baby made the appeal during the National Peace Conference held on Monday, October 26, 2026 in Freetown, where he joined other prominent Sierra Leonean artistes in calling for compassion and an opportunity for Sheriff to rebuild her life.
The Peace Ambassador’s appeal has brought renewed attention to Sheriff’s situation, with calls for consideration of rehabilitation, reintegration and the possibility of a second chance.
He urged the President and the First Family to consider her circumstances and explore the appropriate legal avenues that could facilitate her release.
The appeal comes amid public interest in Sheriff’s case, with renewed discussions about balancing justice with compassion and the importance of providing opportunities for people to reintegrate into society after serving time in prison.
Shady Baby’s intervention also highlights the role of public figures and peace advocates in promoting dialogue, reconciliation and a more compassionate approach to rehabilitation.
Any decision regarding Sheriff’s release would, however, be subject to the applicable legal and constitutional procedures.
