Tony Khan is "extremely happy" after meeting with Skydance on Friday in Los Angeles, according to Wrestling Observer head Dave Meltzer. The Observer chief reported that Khan was "the happiest he's been" after crunch talks with combined Warner Bros Discovery and Paramount figureheads.
WBD and Paramount had previously merged to formed Skydance, which triggered reports concerned about AEW's television future. Would there even be a place for products like Dynamite and Collision post-merger? It appears that everything is heading in a positive direction on that front.
Khan is chuffed, but Meltzer was keen to point out that Tony has "always been happy about this relationship" and has been "beaming about it since day one". At least publicly, the All Elite head honcho hasn't been worried about what'll happen to his core TV shows.
Before The Observer shared this report, Khan had already gone on record to praise Skydance CEO David Ellison - he started the company in 2006, merged with Paramount in 2026, then eventually merged with Warner Bros Discovery this year.
Tony believes that Ellison is a strong supporter of pro wrestling, so he's thrilled to be working under his banner.
AEW recently promoted the WrestleDream pay-per-view on 17 October, and it's full steam ahead on television ahead of 14 November's Full Gear. Khan will have some major plans in mind when hyping that PPV on Dynamite and Collision, so the last thing he needed was to come out of talks with Skydance fretting.
It looks like Tony is satisfied with Skydance's backing.
