AMPATI, Oct 26: Officials of the Zikzak Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block attended a training programme on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, on Monday.
West Garo Hills-based advocate Giles Ch Sangma served as the resource person, orienting the staff on key provisions of the central legislation and the Meghalaya Right to Information Rules, 2025.
The sessions focused on RTI application procedures, statutory timelines, disclosure exemptions, the appeals process, record maintenance, and the legal obligations of Public Information Officers (PIOs). Participants also addressed practical difficulties encountered in processing queries, drafting timely replies, and complying with statutory norms.
The programme concluded with case-study exercises and an open-house discussion aimed at improving compliance and efficiency in handling applications at the block level.
