LANXESS, the German speciality chemicals company and Hindustan Colas Private Ltd (HINCOL) have sighed a MoU for cooperation in advanced road construction technologies for the Indian infrastructure market.
They have decided to establish a framework for evaluating technical, commercial and business opportunities in the field of bitumen and asphalt modification technologies, the companies said.
As per the agreement LANXESS and HINCOL will jointly assess solutions aimed at enhancing pavement performance, improving production efficiency, reducing environmental impact and supporting the development of sustainable road infrastructure in India.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will conduct joint laboratory and commercial-scale evaluations of Addipave CR 36, LANXESS’ advanced cross-linking technology for Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) applications.
The technology is expected to help improve PMB production efficiency, enhance product consistency and quality, strengthen operational safety and support improved performance of modified bitumen formulations.
LANXESS will provide the product, technical expertise and trial support, while HINCOL will contribute testing facilities, operational support and performance assessment under local conditions.
The cooperation will also include the evaluation and promotion of Addipave WM 23, LANXESS’ warm mix asphalt additive technology.
Through joint trials and market development initiatives, the parties aim to reduce asphalt production and paving temperatures while maintaining road performance standards.
The technology offers potential benefits including lower energy consumption, reduced emissions, improved workplace conditions and enhanced sustainability throughout the paving process, the companies said.
“With HINCOL’s local market insight, we aim to expand our foot print in India for asphalt application tailored to the requirements of the local market,” said Vince Patram, Global Head of Marketing, Business Unit Lubricant Additives, LANXESS.
