Four-star prospect Jakyi Miles, a Phoenix native, tells Rivals he has committed to Arizona State and reclassified into the 2027 class.
The 6-foot-3 point guard out of Compass Prep (AZ) is ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit in the 2028 class, the No. 5 point guard, and the No. 2 player in Arizona, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports). His ranking will be re-evaluated following his move into the 2027 class.
Miles chose the Sun Devils over a host of other offers, including Kansas, USC, Texas, Texas Tech, NC State, Baylor, and more.
He becomes Randy Bennett’s third commitment in the 2027 class, joining four-star small forward Howard Williams (No. 50 nationally) and four-star power forward Carson Crawford (No. 54 nationally).
Miles on his commitment to ASU and decision to reclassify
Jakyi Miles discussed his decision to choose the Sun Devils and why he ultimately opted to reclassify.
“I chose Arizona State University because of the consistency with the coaches and just being home was a no brainer. Coach is going to let me rock and they all believe in me. Just the thought of my family being able to watch me play college ball is a blessing.
On his decision to reclassify, Miles added:
“I reclassified because I feel like I’m ready for college ball now, just gotta work on my body.”
Scouting Miles
Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw wrote the following about Miles, after watching him at the USA Basketball Minicamp in earlier this month:
Jakyi Miles is wired to score the ball. He gets downhill with a purpose and plays with great balance when he’s in the paint. Working through the reads and progressions is a next step but his ability to put consistent pressure on the defense was apparent.
Miles has scored the ball well this weekend, but on Sunday, he showed some intriguing point guard feel with his passing reads. He is a twitchy guard and aggressively gets downhill. The reads is a nice step.
