A former Rose of Tralee winner has described the grief that comes with suffering a stroke, saying she “didn’t look at her kids’ faces enough”.Gerrie O’Grady, who is from Cork and claimed the Rose title in 1999, has permanent vision impairment following the stroke and said the experience left her feeling lost because she had to “find a new way” of achieving the ordinary things she had done all her life.
