As she does, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham made waves at the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, going full cowgirl again.
She posted a picture from the event on her Instagram Stories (via The Spun). Cunningham is donning a cowgirl hat that reads, “Yee MF Haw.”
It appears that Cunningham is enjoying her offseason. The Fever were eliminated by the Las Vegas Aces in the playoffs. The Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream are currently tied 2-2 in the WNBA Finals. Game 5 will be played on Monday, Oct. 26.

Sophie Cunningham is hitting WNBA free agency again

For the second year in a row, Cunningham is hitting free agency. She re-signed with the Indiana Fever in April 2026 before the season began.
However, it remains to be seen if she will be brought back again in 2027. She was in the news a lot this season for her views on transgender athletes, becoming outspoken on the topic.
The Fever parted ways with president Kelly Krauskopf and general manager Amber Cox last week. Stephanie White is still the team’s head coach, though. Still, the new regime might not want Cunningham back.
In her second season with the Fever, Cunningham averaged 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. She rebounded after having her 2025 campaign cut short with a torn MCL injury. She only started three games in 2026, but Cunningham played in 43 of 44 games this season.
Before her time with the Fever, Cunningham played for the Phoenix Mercury for six years. They drafted her in the second round of the 2019 WNBA Draft out of Missouri.
During her collegiate career, Cunningham was a standout on the Tigers. She was a three-time First-team All-SEC player, and she was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2016. She also made the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2016 for her efforts.
