Dan Orlovsky gives Giants’ J.J. McCarthy 1 word that perfectly summarizes strong outing vs. Texans appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
On Sunday, the New York Giants picked up their fourth win of the season with a narrow road victory over the Houston Texans. This game marked the first New York start for JJ McCarthy, and the former first-round draft pick largely performed well, making some big plays down the stretch against a Texans defense that was among the best in the league last year.
Now, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has taken to social media to weigh in on McCarthy’s impressive performance.
“Conviction,” wrote Orlovsky, over a video of himself on “Get Up” discussing the win, per his account on X, formerly Twitter.

“I think with JJ, it was conviction, just an exceptional conviction of, ‘I know where my guy is, and I’m throwing the ball…’ This was an indication of a quarterback who clearly was convicted in what he was looking at,” he said in the video.
Indeed, McCarthy looked to have immense confidence both in himself and his receivers on Sunday in Houston, dicing up a Texans’ secondary that has been shaky at times to open up this year, and pushing the Giants’ record to 4-2-1 in the process.
If McCarthy continues to play well in his starting role, it will certainly be interesting to see what kind of plans New York might have for him moving forward, especially once starter Jaxson Dart is back and healthy next season. Of course, McCarthy is still several strong starts away from making that conversation a reality, but he’s gotten off to a strong start to his New York tenure thus far.
The Giants will next hit the field on November 8 on the road vs the Philadelphia Eagles.
