Kiah Stokes’ blocking efforts helped her make WNBA Finals history during the Golden State Valkyries’ 64-55 win over the Atlanta Dream in Game 5 on Monday night.
Stokes has been playing in the WNBA since 2015, going through her first year with the Valkyries. Despite not being a scorer, she asserted herself as a full-time starter with her remarkable production on defense. This paved the way for Golden State to rise as one of the best teams in the league, reaching the WNBA Finals.
Golden State had its back against the wall with a 2-1 series deficit after losing Game 3. They have since bounced back with wins in Games 4 and 5 to take a 3-2 series lead over Atlanta.

“Kiah Stokes now has six straight games with 3+ blocks – tied with Lisa Leslie (2003) for the longest streak in a single postseason in WNBA playoff history,” the post read.
